State and Federal law encourage people who are aware of Government waste and fraud to report it. These citizens are called “relators,” and they are able to stand in the shoes of the Government and sue these wrongdoers. Sometimes the Government joins the relator in suing the wrongdoer, and, if the claim is valid, the relator receives a portion of the recovery.
