Andy Moorman of Moorman Law Firm was named a Legal Elite of the Upstate for 2020.
Moorman graduated from Furman University in 1998 and then earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 2001. He spent a year as a Law Clerk for The Honorable John C. Few, then a South Carolina Circuit Court Judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit. He was also an Assistant Solicitor for the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office from 2002 until 2007, where he prosecuted DUI, armed robbery, and other violent crime cases in Greenville as well as represented the State of South Carolina before the South Carolina Supreme Court. He then worked at a private practice for two years.
Most notably, Moorman spent ten years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the United States Attorney Office in the District of South Carolina. During this time, he investigated and prosecuted drug trafficking organizations operating in the United States and internationally, and prosecuted white collar crimes, money laundering crimes, public corruption, and firearms offenses. He was also the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division and Lead Organized Crime and Drug Task Force Enforcement Attorney.
Moorman opened Moorman Law Firm in late 2019 where he focuses on criminal law, such as drug conspiracy, white collar offenses, and federal investigations. However, he also works with civil cases and corporate investigations.
